KAZANThe number of applications submitted by prospective volunteers for the 27th Summer Universiade via the official recruitment website makeureal.kazan2013.com exceeded 20,000.

Yulia Vorozheva, a young citizen of Ekaterinburg, became the 20,000th candidate that put her name forward as a Kazan 2013 volunteer. She mentioned in her application form that among the reasons that urged her to volunteer are a chance to be part of a mega event and to get acquainted with new people. The young girl has a music education and a good command of English. The functional areas that attract her most are Protocol, Opening/Closing Ceremonies and Arrivals/Departure.

A little more than 20,000 volunteer candidates for the 2013 Summer Universiade are currently included in the database, the Volunteer Department revealed, but the recruitment drive does not stop at that point.

“Despite youth’s activity decay due to the summer break, the interviews at the Volunteer Recruitment Centre are in full swing, so if you haven’t applied to volunteer yet, you still have time! The website makeureal.kazan2013.com is open to all those who are willing to join the ranks of those who make Kazan 2013 a reality!” said Alexander Karpov, Director of the Volunteer Department. “From today we welcome those who want to volunteer at the forthcoming World University Championships that are due to be held in late August-early September. In addition, we offer the volunteer candidates that are registered online greater opportunities under the E-learning education module and will soon begin implementing the Kazan 2013 volunteer training programme!”

As we have earlier informed, 20,000 young boys and girls from Kazan, other cities and towns of Russia and abroad will be working alongside the Kazan 2013 delivery team during the Games. The volunteers will be involved in 110 areas of activity. All of them will be supplied with volunteer uniforms, provided with food during the work hours, transportation and some of them will be even lucky enough to attend the Opening/Closing Ceremonies for free.
