UBERLANDIA – CBDU, the Brazilian member association of FISU, celebrated the finals of its national university games ‘JUBS’ in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais. Some 5,000 participants were involved in the games, among them more than 4,500 student-athletes from universities all over Brazil. The 27 states were represented in 13 different sports, between individual and team sports.

Individual Sports
From 14 to 19 October, athletes competed in 9 different individual sports, i.e. athletics, judo, badminton, tennis, table tennis, swimming, chess, rhythmic gymnastics and also beach volleyball. In total, there were more than 530 medals, distributed in three different divisions. São Paulo state was the best, mainly in the swimming competitions.
At the same time, academic activities were organised and local artists performed in the Games Centre that was created to provide relaxing time for the athletes, with table games, video games, computers and Wi-Fi.
Team Sports
From 20 to 24 October, the team sports competitions took place, i.e. futsal, basketball, volleyball and handball, with almost 2,500 student-athletes from the 27 States playing for the Brazilian championship.
