The document was signed by PwC Auditing Practices Officer (Central and Eastern Europe) Richard Mann, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee Vladimir Leonov.

In accordance with the terms of the agreement of intent, PwC will be awarded Partner and Official Consulting Services Supplier status for the 27th Summer Universiade of 2013 in Kazan.

In his welcome speech Rustam Minnikhanov remarked that Kazan’s right to host the 2013 Summer Universiade had not only enabled the republic to build unique sports venues and develop transport infrastructure, but also had attracted experience of leading international companies.

PwC opened their office in Kazan in 2007. We’ve established outstanding relations during this time. The company has consulting experience of largest sporting events and our agreement will be related to delivery of one of such. We give our priority to rational exploitation of the newly constructed venues and decent staging of the 2013 Summer Universiade, for that we need to receive competent consulting service rendered by specialists”, Rustam Minnikhanov said.

For his part, Richard Mann stated that PwC followed three major values in their work: leadership, commitment to excellence and teamwork. “We intend to apply our values in cooperation with the Kazan 2013 Organizing Committee. We have consulting experience of the largest sporting events. We plan to share this experience”, he said.

CEO of Kazan’s PwC Branch Alla Saltykova says: “Tatarstan has a huge economic potential. The republic places its priority on innovations and modernization. Within the last few years the region boasted a considerable increase and is attractive to investors now. We want to assist Tatarstan in mobilization of foreign investments, implementation of infrastructure projects and further development of the region. These are the intentions of our cooperation with the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee.”

Within the period of 2011-2013 PwC will assist the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee in a number of activities, including management of the Universiade’s budgeting operations, introduction and support of management system on the principle of a project-oriented organization, etc. “Russia hasn’t staged such large sporting events since 1980 so we are glad that we will be able to apply the experience gained by our new partners”, Vladimir Leonov summarized.
