FISU International Medical Committee holds important meeting

The FISU International Medical Committee (CMI) has met at FISU Headquarters for their first physical meeting. Formed at the end of 2019, the current CMI had only met online before due to the pandemic.  

 

The purpose of the meeting was to provide a general update on most issues covered by the CMI.

 

Dusan Hamar (picture), the Chair of the Committee, made a presentation on the latest news and implementation guidelines for antidoping policies. The CMI reviewed doping controls and medical care operations and preparations for Lake Placid 2023 and Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games.

 

The CMI members also discussed the reports on doping controls and medical care during all FISU World University Championships and University World Cups in 2022, and the lessons learned and suggestions for improvement.

 

The CMI also exchanged on the issue of transgender athletes and the FISU policy related to this topic.

 

FISU Acting President Leonz Eder welcomed the participants in the meeting: Eric Saintrond, FISU Secretary General/CEO, Paulo Ferreira, FISU Director General, Dusan Hamar, CMI Chair, Tapio Kallio, CMI Vice-Chair, Tom Crisp, Coordinator Anti-doping, and CMI members Koichi Watanabe, Jose Garza, Kadirhan Sunguroglu, Pietro Rettagliata and Carlos Magalhaes (present in Lausanne), as well as Ian Murphy, Coordinator Education, and CMI members Abdul Halim Bin Mokhtar, Pawel Reichert, Hong Zhang, and Walter Frey (attending online).
