FISU Acting President Leonz Eder meets high-ranking Albanian representatives of politics and sports

FISU 5 May 2022

On invitation of the Albanian University Sports Federation, FISU Acting President Leonz Eder visited Tirana and met some high-ranking representatives of politics and sports.

FSHSU President Besnik Veliu thanked FISU and Acting President Eder for the concrete support and assistance for the Albanian University Sports Federation in the first years of its creation and development, enabling them to participate actively in some FISU events.

During the various meetings, including with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Tirana Mayor Erjon Veliaj, NOC President Fidel Yilli and Vice Rector Bernard Dosti, Eder expressed the hope that the Albanian University Sports Federation would receive further substantial support from the political and sports bodies.

“Not only is it important to participate in FISU events, where students can present themselves as the best ambassadors of their country, but it is also key to promote sports at the universities themselves,” Eder said.

“As many students as possible should have access to sports and thus be able to contribute positively to their life style, also with regard to FISU’s Healthy Campus program,” he added.

FISU Acting President also took note of the willingness of the Albanian University Sports Federation to be a candidate for hosting FISU events in the future.

For this purpose, WUC in weightlifting, beach volleyball or futsal could be considered. At the moment, they are preparing to participate in the UWC Handball in Pristina, Kosovo, where they would like to be present with one women and one men team.
