The 2020 IDUS Dance Challenge is here!

FISU 6 September 2020

IDUS ChallengeIt’s two weeks to go for the International Day of University Sports on 20 September, which means it’s almost time to celebrate IDUS in style!

However, this year, with the situation being what it is due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is inevitable that IDUS will not be celebrated as it has been in the past, with mass gatherings and activities for hundreds, if not thousands of people.

Therefore, this year, FISU brings a challenge that everyone can participate in – from the safety of their homes if need be.

The 2020 IDUS Dance Challenge starts today! Two of our amazing World University Championship cheerleading athletes have created bespoke routines for this challenge and all of FISU’s fans, followers and audiences on social media are welcome to participate.

The spirit of IDUS after all, is sport and activity for all.

Here’s Dance I from Sabrina Trolio, 4th year Intermediate/Senior from Brock University, Canada. She was a participant on the 2018 Brock Cheer team that represented Canada at the FISU World University Cheerleading Championships in Lodz, Poland in 2018.

What’s the challenge about? Anyone who wants to participate has to pick one of the two dance/cheer routines and try to copy them. Of course, they can put their own twist on it, ask others to help and have fun with it! All entries will have to be made on Instagram, directly on the participant’s own feed, with the hashtag #LetsIDUS and as well as a tag for @fisu.

Here’s a look at Dance II from Idac Medeiros of  CBDU, Brazil. Isac has certainly thrown down quite a challenge with some of those moves – but participants have to remember that we’re not necessarily looking for an exact imitation; creative spins on this will do just fine.

Over the next week, we will collect and repost all the entries that come in, and on 13 September we will announce the top eight. These eight best, funniest, or most extreme versions will make it to our final round which will run through the IDUS week from 14-20 September. We’ll have a vote-off on our Instagram each day, with quarterfinals, semifinals and finally a title match up!

All information available on our social media channels. Join the fun, join the #LetsIDUS Dance Challenge.
