2010 WUC Handball Update: Day 2 of Competitions

HUN vs. JPN

 

NYIREGYHAZA – Yesterday, June 29th, at the secund day of competitions of the 20th World University Handball Championship in Hungary, the biggest surprise was the draw in the men’s competition between Serbia and Cyprus (24–24). In the same group host Hungary won its second consecutive game, this time against United Arab Emirates (39–18). In the other group, Japan won its second game against Ukraine, who got beaten in their second game too. It was the first time, that the Czech team come into action in the men’s tournament, and they played an easy game against Mexico.

In the women’s tournament there are only two teams which didn’t lost points after two games. One of them is host Hungary. The Hungarians defeated Japan by ten goals (32–22) whil the Czechs beat Brazil 36–28. It cam as a little surprise that World Champion title holder Turkey lost its game against Roumania.

The best male scorer of the day was Miroslav Jurka (Czech Republic), who scored 10 goals against Mexico. The best female scorer of the day was Turkish player Iskenderoghi Serpil, who scored 12 goals against Romania.
