2010 WUC Handball Update



The 20th World University Handball Championship will take place in Nyíregyháza, Hungary. Nyíregyháza is a city in North-east Hungary and the county capital of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg. With a population of 117,000 it is the seventh-largest city in Hungary and is one of the leading cities of Northern Hungary.

Accomodation & Accreditation

The FISU Family's accommodation will be the Hotel Central, while the teams will be lodged in the Hotel Sandra Youth Hostel n the College of Nyíregyháza. Accreditation will be organized in these hotels as well.


Nyíregyháza is situated 240 kilometers from Budapest. It takes 2.5 hours by bus. Travelling by intercity train between the two cities is very comfortable as well. Buses will bring the teams to the sport venues.

Competition Venues

The Sport Hall of Bujtiso will be the competition venue. The 2005 World Junior Handball Championship was staged there which attracted more than 50,000 spectators for 81 games.
