2022 FISU University World Cup Handball: Pristina wins at home, makes history

The University of Pristina won the men competition of the 2022 FISU University World Cup of handball organized in Kosovo.

 

In front of their fans, the host team beat the Kangwon University from Korea 33-30 in a very tight and exciting match.   

 

It was the first-ever global sporting event hosted in Kosovo, and the victory at home was proudly celebrated by the locals.

 

In the women competition, the Korea National Sports University won the gold medal by dominating the Spaniard team of University Castilla/La Mancha 32-22.  

 

“Our dream for this cup started two years ago. The dream came true,” said Musa Selimi, Executive Director of the FISU World University Handball Cup.

 

“During these seven days we had the opportunity, not only to be the host of this cup but also to show the world our culture, tradition and values,” he added.

 

Fourteen university teams (eight in the men section and six in the women one) gathered and competed in Kosovo.

Bronze medal match, women: University of Pristina “Hasan Prishtina” (Kosovo)-Palacký University in Olomouc (Czech Republic), 26-24
