FISU present at 77th AIPS Congress

BAKU – FISU was present at the 77th edition of the AIPS Congress in Baku, Azerbaijan. FISU was represented in Baku by FISU Secretary-General/CEO Eric Saintrond, Executive Committee member and Chair of the Media & Communication Committee Verena Burk and Press Officer Christian Pierre. The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev officially opened the 77th AIPS Congress on 27 April. Addressing the delegates and guests representing almost all the countries in the world, President Aliyev welcomed all those present giving an overview of Azerbaijan’s most recent history.

Today, 29 April, FISU Chair of the Media & Communication Committee Verena Burk presented an overview of FISU’s activities in 2013, the successful Summer and Winter Universiades in Kazan and Trentino respectively. The FISU EC member also looked ahead of the upcoming events, the World University Championships for 2014 (29) and 2016 (33) as well as the Winter and Summer Universiade for 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Not only FISU is present at the Congress. Also delegates of the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju are promoting the 28th edition of the games. They will make a presentation on 30 April.

 

The AIPS Congress was also an opportunity to meet former mentors of the Young Reporters’ Programme like Nicolai Dolgopolov and Lev Rossosshik or former FISU Young Reporters like Sonja Nikcevic.
