The pledge “From Healthy Campus to Healthy Lifestyle!” means FISU will commit to develop sport for all through its Healthy Campus programme. It will also launch a global campaign to encourage all its members and universities to improve the holistic approach to well-being and healthy lifestyles on campuses, with the involvement of local communities.

“FISU works with university students and as such has a very important social responsibility role in promoting health, well-being as well as the objectives of sustainable development. In that regard, the collaboration between universities and local communities is decisive,” said Leonz Eder.

During the forum, Leonz Eder also reminded that FISU recently became an official signatory of the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework, in addition to the work it is already doing on sustainability – a key area of its Healthy Campus Programme.

FISU is involved in this global campaign which is seeking support from various leaders in the sport sector to collectively cut carbon emissions by half by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions as soon as possible.

“FISU has recognized that legacy and sustainability are priority topics and has included them in its Global Strategy 2027,” Eder added.

Both the participation of FISU at the EU Sports Forum in Lille and the Pledge received the support of Kairis Ulp, Policy Officer in the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission, and former FISU EC member and Emeritus Honorary Member.
