European Network of Academic Sports Services (ENAS) held its 24th Forum in Portugal

FISU 18 November 2022

The 24th edition of the ENAS Forum and Assembly 2022 recently took place in Porto. More than 150 members of sport centers and services from Higher Education Institutions from all over Europe exchanged on the theme Communication in University & College Sport.

A two-day Pre-Forum allowed participants to run a marathon, tour the northern regions of Portugal where they visited sports facilities and other sport-related infrastructures, and know better the University of Porto, organizer of the ENAS event.

Many well-known speakers made speeches or presentations at the Forum itself, including Joana Carvalho, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Social Responsibility and Sports of the University of Porto, Mel Parker, ENAS President, Jorge Sequeira, author of the book “Dar ao Pedal”, Kátia Almeida, clinical psychologist and social entrepreneur, Nuno Jerónimo, founder of the company “O Escritório”, Luís Soares, Rock in Rio’s International Marketing Manager, Raúl Santos, PR Director of the University of Porto, Andy Allford, Director of Sport at the University of Birmingham, and Jorge Ferreira, Manager of the Manufacturing Area of the IKEA Group.

The participants also had the opportunity to learn more about ENAS, the 2025 FISU World University Games and the FISU Healthy Campus programme.

“This conference was a success, the more than 150 participants had an excellent experience, especially with the topics presented by experts from different areas,” said Bruno Almeida, Sport Director of University of Porto. “This will certainly spark new ideas to improve the quality of sports services in all countries and bring healthier conditions in campuses.”

FISU signed last September an MoU with ENAS to encourage the European Universities to join the ENAS network and to Promote the FISU Healthy Campus Programme.

The University of Porto is Healthy Campus Platinum Certified and previously hosted the FISU World University Championship Rugby 7 in 2010 and Beach Volleyball in 2014.
