Kazan. It was already the last day of Executive Committee Meeting today and the session was totally dedicated to the world university Championships.

The meeting was conducted by Leonz Eder, new CTI chair for the WUC and Aitor Canibe Sanchez, vice-chair but also with the help of the WUC Department of the FISU staff. Indeed it was the last report for Laurent Briel as a WUC Director and for Nicole Mangelschot as WUC Assistant, both of them will now continue to work for FISU but in the Development Department; Laurent Briel as Director and Nicole Mangelschot as Executive Assistant. Paulo Ferreira and Julien Buhajezuk, will now manage the WUC Dept. respectively as WUC Director and WUC Executive Assistant.

Then FISU Assessor, Penninah Kabenge presenting the candidature of Entebbe, Uganda for the 2014 World University Cross Country ChampionshipThe EC Members had first to listen to the reports concerning the situation of the 2012 World University Championships, which is excellent in terms of participations and quality of the events and despite the annulation of the Boxing and Softball Championships.

Regarding this annulation the EC members decided to attribute the 2012 World University Boxing Championship to the city of Baku (AZE) after receiving a superb candidature dossier from the Azerbaijan Association.

Then the floor was given to the delegates representing the cities and associations bidding for the organization of a 2014 World University Championship.

After listening to all the presentations, the Executive Committee decided to attribute the following championships for 2014:

Floorball in Singapour (SIN)

Cross Country in Entebbe (UGA)

Cycling in Jelenia Gora (POL)

Chess in Katowice (POL)

Rowing in Gravelines (FRA)

Karate in Bar (MNE)

Speed Skating (long track) in Almaty (KAZ)

Another very important decision was taken regarding the situation of Archery in the FISU sports programme.

Indeed due to the fact that this discipline is almost each time part of the optional programme of our Summer Universiades the EC Members decided to include it in the Universiade compulsory programme from 2019. That means that the last World University Archery Championship will be held in 2016.

This was the conclusion of the third and final day of the FISU Executive Committee Meeting in Kazan, Russia.
