Sports Administration Masters scholarship at RIOU now open

FISU 7 February 2020

LAUSANNE – Every year, FISU offers unique scholarship programmes to the worldwide community of student-athletes and applications are now open to one of the most prestigious among these; the Master of Sport Administration programme at the Russian International Olympic University, Sochi.

FISU and RIOU support one scholarship to this programme every year and the experience provided is invaluable, according to the current recipient, Muzi Mamba, who is enrolled in the 2019-2020 programme.

“Again, I would like to thank FISU and RIOU for offering me the opportunity to enrol in this prestigious university,” says Mamba (left). “My experience here has been amazing. It is a once in a lifetime time experience to be part of such diversity and such quality of education.”

“This course is so rich such that, after just a few months here, I already feel ready to face the world of sports,” adds Mamba. “This course has prepared me for all the aspects of sports administration like governance, sports marketing, promotions, sports tourism, sports business, venue management and mega events management, to name just a few.”

All FISU Member Associations are invited to submit their candidates by 31 March 2020 at the latest to the FISU Education & Development Department (education@fisu.net) with ‘RIOU Scholarship 2020’ clearly indicated in the email subject.

In addition to the Student Application Form, candidates will be requested to scan and submit the following documents

– An official recommendation letter from their National University Sports Federation (NUSF) or Continental University Sports Federation (CUSF)

– A bachelor’s certificate with the transcripts

– A valid passport

– A valid English language certificate that meets the minimum level requirement of C1

As with all FISU scholarship opportunities, achievements in sport, education and social activity will be highly considered and preference will be given to top level athletes. As minimum requirements the candidates must have a higher education diploma and proof of working proficiency in English as the classes are conducted entirely in English.

More information on the MSA programme can be found here.

In addition to the application via FISU, candidates have to register online here: http://admcom.olympicuniversity.ru/registration?lang=en  and also submit the required documents on this platform.

Muzi Mamba also has a word of advice for future recipients of the scholarship, as well as participants of the programme.

“The most amazing experience is to be taught by the highest ranked professors and academics in sports worldwide,” he says. “Moreover, I study with students from more than 17 countries and all continents of the world. To future students, I would suggest: be ready to open up to the colleagues, make good relations with them. Most of them already have huge experience in sport administration in their countries.”
