Prestigious Russian International Olympic University scholarship open

LAUSANNE – As the home of university sport, FISU places an emphasis on education through sport and our scholarship programmes are unique opportunities offered to the worldwide community of student-athletes. 2016 RIOU Scholarship recipient Ivo Carvalhosa with FISU President Oleg MatytsinFISU and RIOU support one scholarship to this programme every year and the experience provided is invaluable, according to former recipients. Ivo Pereira Carvalhosa from Portugal and Ilsida Tomere from Suriname, have both won the RIOU MSA scholarship in recent years.

“I had a great time with all the different classes, teachers and subjects,” says Carvalhosa, two years down the line. “The teaching is top notch, while the campus and accommodation are state of the art and just wonderful.”

Ilsida Tomere of SurinameTomere agrees. “Studying at RIOU was a great opportunity for my personal development,” she says. “As a current long-distance athlete, I was confident that this program will enable me to develop my intellect further, particularly in sport business. I must say it has been a great experience for me.”

All the FISU Member Associations are invited to submit their candidates by 31 March 2019 at the latest. The student application form can be found here as well as two documents presenting the Education Programme for the ‘Master of Sport Administration’.

The application form should be emailed to the FISU Education Department (education@fisu.net) with ‘RIOU Scholarship 2019’ in the subject line. All the required supporting documents must also be attached.

In addition to the documents to be provided and listed here, candidates are required to provide an official recommendation letter from their National University Sports Federation or Continental University Sports Federation.

Please note that achievements in sport, education and social activity are highly valued, especially related to FISU events, and that preference will be given to top level athletes.
