Eric Saintrond delivers special lecture in Korea

SEOUL – FISU Secretary General & CEO Eric Saintrond addressed some of the biggest challenges that the world of sport faces today, as he delivered a special lecture to a panel of students from 35 countries at the Seoul National University (SNU).

Hosting sports events in major cities, good governance, and the global sports calendar were some of the issues he spoke of, as he interacted with students of the Dream Together Master Programme at SNU.

This postgraduate programme at the SNU prepares students and student-athletes for leadership positions in the management of international sport.

Eric Saintrond with scholarship recipients“It is always an honour and a great pleasure for me to interact with students from all over the world,” said Eric Saintrond.

“The university sports movement is one of the best platforms to exchange ideas on these sensitive but extremely important issues,” he added.

Among the students present were also the present and former recipients of FISU’s Dream Together Master Programme scholarship: John Monyo from Ghana, Daulina Osmani of Kosovo and Yuhan Chen from China.

This fully funded scholarship that aims to consolidate international sport cooperation via global networking, is a tremendous opportunity for aspiring sports managers. The keen interest demonstrated by the participants showed that there is a real desire among young sports leaders to improve the management of the international sports bodies through better governance and education of athletes. In early November, the Dream Together Seoul Forumwill also take place where the key topic is ‘Sport for Peace’.
