European Union Sport Forum 2016

DEN HAGUE – More than 350 participants gathered on 9-10 March in Den Hague Netherlands for the EU Sport Forum. All kinds of sports actors were taking part in this meeting, from top athletes to representatives of the continental and international federations and of course also the EU country members representatives from the governmental to the civil servants level.

The EU Commissioner in charge of sport, the Hungarian Tibor Navracsics, insisted on grassroots sport and tackling the threats on sport.

FISU was represented by Kolë Gjeloshaj, Director for Educational Services, while other persons who have a leading role in FISU were present as well, such as board member Hilkka Laitinen, representing the Finish Sport Confederation, the representatives of the European University Sport Federation (EUSA), Matjaz Pecovnik and Andrej Pisl and the secretary general of the German University Sport Federation (ADH), Christoph Fischer. EUSA will be partner of the European sport week starting this year on 10 September.

FISU is particularly interested in two topics promoted by the sport policy and programme unit of the European Commissions which are:  Dual Career and Gender mainstreaming.
