The power of sport during the FISU Summer World University Games will extend again into the educational arena with the Chengdu organisers set to host the 28th FISU World Conference on Student Development through Sport, which will run alongside 269 medal events across the event’s 18 sports disciplines.

The FISU World Conference organisers in Chengdu invite prospective students, scholars and researchers to apply to take part in next summer’s event, with organisers currently collecting conference themes and ideas. If you want your ideas heard, don’t delay as the submission date for this input of 30 April 2020 is rapidly approaching.

With a history dated back to the 1960, the FISU World Conference brings together academic authorities, corporate leaders, scientists, and student-athletes for a major academic-focused event. While the 31st Summer World University Games will take place from 18-29 August 2021, the three-day conference will take place midway through the Games.

Conference organisers expect to attract 200 to 500 participants from 25 to 40 countries, with renowned scholars, university sports managers, representatives from international sport and non-sport federations, future FISU events organisers, and FISU Family members among the attendees. Presentations from the conclusions from the previous Forums – Taipei from Summer Universiade 2017 and Krasnoyarsk from Winter Universiade 2019 – lectures, plenary sessions, parallel sessions and other additional programmes will comprise this edition of the FISU World Conference.

The Chengdu event will also probe into the major issues – and opportunities – for China to further realise the country’s physical activity and education developmental aims.
