The 1st World University Bridge Championship took place in 2002 in Bruges, Belgium, and welcomed 65 players from 13 countries. Thanks to an excellent cooperation with the World Bridge Federation, this discipline continues to grow within the university community. Since 2020, Bridge is organised in a cluster event as part of the World University Championship Mind Sports.

The History of Bridge in FISU
On the track of the 1st World University Bridge Championship in 2002 in Bruges, Belgium, seven other editions took place on two continents, attracting around 100 participants per edition. The 8th World University Bridge Championship was held in Lodz (POL) in 2016.
