Becoming FISU Member Association gives your organisation the opportunity to participate in FISU worldwide events (FISU World University Games, FISU World Conference, FISU University World Cups, etc.) as well as in a comprehensive educational programme of activities and events (FISU World Forum, FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy, etc.).

 

It is a unique platform to gain experience and extend your network. FISU membership also gives your organisation the possibility to participate at different development programmes and to bid for the organisation of an event that brings together all countries from around the world. FISU can accept only one representative organisation per organisation as an active member. The notion of “organisation” corresponds to the one approved by the International Olympic Committee. A representative organisation is either

  • the national university sports organisation gathering all the university student sportsmen and sportswomen of the organisation, or in its absence;
  • a national union of students, or in its absence;
  • a coordinating body set up by the university sports bodies of the organisation or by all the student groups in the organisation.

 

Fees 

  • Membership fee: 250€ per year
  • Registration fee at a FISU events: 20€ per participant per event (40€ per participant for non-member)
  • Participation fee for FISU World University Games, FISU World Conference and FISU World Forum

 

Rights and responsibilities

Organisations with the status of active member shall:

  • update their membership records, in particular check that their Statutes and Internal Regulations are still in accordance with the Statutes and Internal Regulations of FISU, especially with regards to their aims and objects.
  • undertake to collaborate in the realisation of FISU’s objectives and agree to abide by the FISU Statutes and Internal Regulations.
  • pay the annual membership fee, which shall be determined for a two-year period by the FISU General Assembly.

 

After the approval of the FISU Membership Application, the following “membership application” documents shall be filled in and sent to the FISU office:

  1. Administrative document (only upon request from the FISU office):
  2. Statutes of the organisation;
  3. Short history and activity report of the organisation;
  4. Certificate issued by the governmental authorities certifying that the organisation is an authentic representative of university sport in the organisation;
  5. Certificate issued by the National Olympic Committee certifying that the organisation is an authentic representative of university sport in the organisation;

 

Process
  1. The applicant fills in the online Membership Application Form on FISU webpage and fills in the requested documents;
  2. The applicant sends the original documents to the FISU Office;
  3. The FISU office submits the application to the FISU Executive Committee;
  4. The FISU Executive Committee makes recommendations;
  5. The application is submitted to the FISU General Assembly;
  6. The application is ratified by the FISU General Assembly;
  7. The FISU office sends the official approval letter to the organisation;
  8. The organisation officially becomes a member.

 

Please note that the FISU General Assembly shall have the power, in its discretion, to accept or refuse an application for membership.
