As the home of International University Sports, FISU is located on the University of Lausanne campus

Situated in a park-like setting adjacent to the university’s sports complex, since January 2018 the base of FISU’s operations can be found at the Synathlon — a building dedicated to sport sciences and international University Sport development.

The venue is the home base to the International Sports Cluster, a kind of one-stop-shop of any organisation or entity that could benefit from university skills in the field of sport. In addition to FISU, the Synathlon houses the University of Lausanne’s sport science operations, the International Academy of Sciences and Sports Techniques (AISTS), and several other globally-minded sports organisations.

The design of the building strikes an emblematic note while at the same time blending seamlessly into the University of Lausanne campus. Encased in the wall of windows along all four corners of it’s five-stories, the building offers sweeping views of Lake Geneva and the Dorigny neighbourhood in which it sits.

With its views and clean lines, the Synathlon makes a striking architectural statement. The project comes from the Zurich office Karamuk and Kuo. The venue includes a 200-seat auditorium, cafeteria and meeting spaces, in addition to the office space and classrooms.

United under one roof, the Synathlon has already become the central international hub of international sport, education and cutting edge research.
