A NETWORKING PLATFORM FOR SCIENTISTS, CORPORATES AND STUDENTS

The FISU World Conference’s goal is to create a platform for presenting scientific papers on university sport, thereby stimulating research on this topic.  Conference themes focus on the study of university sport and are further complimented with keynote addresses, poster presentations, paper-presentation sessions and discussion groups.

Summer FISU World University Games

Held every two years during the Summer FISU World University Games, the FISU World Conference on Student Development through Sport is a  major academic conference. A core traditional event inside the University Sport Movement with a history that goes back to 1960, the FISU World Conference ensures the highest academic level and scientific credibility by organising its event in cooperation with the leading local academic authorities.

 

The FISU World Conference on Student Development through Sport is open to all accredited participants of the FISU World University Games. Having a student development conference take place during the FISU World University Games allows many student-athletes to take part in an international academic conference, fostering the academic spirit in the sports arena.

 

 

 

The FISU World Conference attracts not only participants from all over the world but also well-known speakers. Mark Emmert, President of National Collegiate Athletic Association NCAA (Taipei 2017), Prof. Jinxia Dong, Founding Director of the Peking University Research Center (Gwangju 2015) and Alan Abrahamson, sportswriter and best-selling author (Kazan 2013), are three prominent examples among many famous speakers in the last few years. Additionally, representatives from international organisations such as the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Fair Play Committee (CIFP), the European Athlete as Student Network (EAS) and the HYPE Foundation have taken part in the conference.

Winter FISU World University Games

Along with the Winter FISU World University Games, FISU provides the organising committee with the opportunity to host a scientific conference. The objective of the FISU World Conference on Innovation - Education - Sport is to create a networking platform for scientists who will present and promote the research on scientific innovations and enhance the sustainable development of winter sports. It is an opportunity for the young generation of sports scientists to discuss new ideas or to arrange projects/cooperative efforts in the area of sports science.

 

The FISU World Conference on Innovation - Education - Sport is open to all accredited participants of the Winter FISU World University Games. Having a conference take place during the Winter FISU World University Games allows many student-athletes to take part in an international academic conference, fostering the academic spirit in the sports arena.

Young Researcher Award

One of the key objectives of the FISU World Conference on Student Development through Sport is the promotion of junior scientists and the fostering of state-of-the-art research. Accordingly, the Young Researcher Award for FISU Conference Presenters recognises young leaders in research and is awarded in the framework of the FISU World Conference on Development through Sport.

 

The winner of the FISU Young Researcher Award is invited to present his/her research project and paper at the next FISU Forum. The FISU Forum is indeed the ideal FISU event for young researchers to meet with other youngsters involved in their national university sports federations and discuss the relevance of the project for university sport worldwide.

 

Who is eligible? 

PhD students or students less than 2 years post their PhD graduation, under the age of 35 at the time of the Conference.
