After a five-day coordination visit, the FISU Delegation that travelled to Chungcheong was happy to see that the FISU Games Village construction was progressing faster than planned.

The President of the The Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games Organising Committee Kang Chang-hee welcomed a FISU Delegation led by Chief Sports Officer Shen Zhen for the first coordination visit of 2026.

During five days, from 18-22 March. the International university Sports Federation delegation witnessed the preparation status and held numerous in-depth meetings about the detailed operational plans for the Games.

The FISU delegation also paid great attention to the construction progress by directly touring the Sejong FISU Games’ Village (Sanul, Hapgang) construction site and nine major newly built and renovated venues in the Chungcheong region.

“It was impressive to see that the construction of the FISU Games Village is progressing faster than planned” stated Shen Zhen (in light blue here at the Ochang National Sports Centre), FISU Chief Sports Officer. “The dedication and passion of the OC is remarkable, and we will continue to cooperate closely to ensure a successful event delivery”.

Lee Chang-seop, Vice President of the OC, stated, “It was a meaningful time to practically inspect and coordinate the hardware and software with FISU.” He added, “Based on this feedback, we will unite the capabilities of the Chungcheong region to prepare an event that will inspire university sports people around the world during the FISU Games.”

The Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games will be held from 1-12 August 2027, across four areas of the Chungcheong region, with approximately 15,000 participants from over 150 countries expected to compete in 18 sports.
