Take two cute mascots, an emblem and an inviting slogan and already the Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade seem a lot closer. Can you believe that the Opening Ceremony will take place in only 300 days from now?
The Organising Committee didn’t miss the occasion to celebrate with a bang. Not only did they have one, nor two but three surprises for the university sports movement, unveiling the whole DNA of the event during a festive ceremony.

The newly unveiled emblem, slogan and mascots deeply integrate regional culture, ice and snow elements, international style and youthful vitality. They present to the world Changchun’s open, inclusive and dynamic urban image, as well as Jilin Province’s distinctive qualities of being warm, engaging and promising.
Meet Ji Bing (Ice Ji) and Ji Xue (Snow Ji)

The official mascots of the Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade are a pair of vibrant ice and snow companions — Ji Bing (Ice Ji) and Ji Xue (Snow Ji). “The mascots draw inspiration from Jilin’s iconic local products — the sika deer and ginseng,” said You Jie, lead mascot designer from Sias University, Zhengzhou.

Ji Bing (Ice Ji) is modeled after the Jilin sika deer. Its upright antlers stand tall like forest branches, echoing the vibrant vitality of the Changbai Mountains and of college students. Clad in a red sports outfit, it carries forward the revolutionary heritage of “Three Places and Three Cradles”, embodying Jilin’s profound historical roots. Its blue hat, goggles and scarf reflect Jilin’s enterprising spirit of opening up to the world. Snowflake patterns and meander motifs on its clothing weave together the competitive spirit of winter sports and the auspicious implications of traditional culture. With ice skates on its feet and a warm smile, it embodies friendship and composure with agility.
Ji Xue (Snow Ji) is designed based on the Changbai Mountain ginseng, known as the “King of Hundred Herbs”, symbolising boundless vitality. Its orange gloves represent Jilin’s abundant resources and highlight the region’s identity as China’s “Great Granary”. The cuffs adorned with Northeast China floral patterns and the white fur trims on its outfit are vivid cultural symbols of Jilin, conveying the region’s warmth, simplicity and down-to-earth charm. Its scarf flows like the Songhua River, embodying Jilin’s open-mindedness to embrace the world. Holding a snowboard, she seems ready to take flight, carving vibrant arcs down the snow slopes and showcasing the heroic bearing of young athletes.

A dynamic and colourful emblem representing eternal spring
Embodying energy, culture and bridges
The Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade emblem organically integrates athletic spirit, regional characteristics and mixes Chinese culture with international style. The emblem’s main form is an abstract adaptation of the Chinese character Chang (长), the first character of “Changchun”. Through fluid traditional calligraphic brushstrokes, its dynamic lines capture the speed of winter sports.
Visually, the design ingeniously echoes the iconic “U” shape of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) logo, naturally weaving this international symbol into the structure of Chang. This creates a conceptual connection, making the emblem a cross-linguistic cultural bridge.
In terms of colour, the emblem is dominated by classic blue and white — the hues of ice and snow — accented with vibrant tones that embody youth’s diversity.
“Hidden within the lines is a rhythmic flow reminiscent of film reels. As the cradle of New China’s film industry, Changchun’s cinematic heritage runs deep in the city’s DNA. This design deeply integrates urban characteristics with the Games’ visual identity,” said Guo Yufeng, lead designer of the emblem creative team from Jilin University of Arts.
