FISU delegation visits Shanghai to boost university sports cooperation

The FISU delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Shanghai University of Sports.

From 2-4 February, a delegation led by the FISU President Leonz Eder and Secretary-General/CEO Matthias Remund visited Shanghai to attend a series of activities, which greatly enhanced the popularity and influence of international university sports movement in East China.

During the visit, FISU delegation paid a visit to Shanghai University of Sport (SUS), where they were warmly received by President Mao Lijuan. The delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SUS to promote international exchanges and cooperation in university sports, and the two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation to the Healthy Campus programme as well as other academic and competitive activities in the future.

FISU President Leonz Eder was also awarded the title of honorary professor.

Meeting leading entreprises

The delegation held constructive negotiations with senior executives of leading enterprises including the Yao Foundation, Orange Lion Sport (Alibaba sports) and Power Dekor Flooring. Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges and expressed very positive signals about future cooperation areas and prospects.

This visit further strengthened the participation of representatives from core Asian higher education institutions and major international enterprises in FISU’s future strategy, laying a solid foundation for the development of international university sports.
