The Capital of Powder Snow
“Changchun, situated within the world’s golden latitude zone for ice and snow, is renowned as the “Capital of Powder Snow””, explained Changchun Mayor, Gu Gang. “It stands as a premier ski destination boasting 6 major ski resorts, 52 ski runs and a wide array of winter sports facilities. As a renowned sports city, it has hosted major events such as the Asian Winter Games and the National Winter Games, and has nurtured champions of both Summer and Winter Olympic Games.”
The ski resorts and ice facilities
“Changchun enjoys extensive experience in hosting both domestic and international competitions and has organised a series of national campus winter sports events for many consecutive years”, concluded Teng Lianshuai, Vice President of the China Student Sports Federation (CSSF). “The China Student Sports Federation will fully leverage its strengths to assist in event organisation and international liaison efforts, helping Changchun present this exceptional sports celebration. We will seize this opportunity to promote friendly exchanges among young people from China and other countries, and jointly advance the building of a community with a shared future”.

The Winter Universiade in Changchun in 2027 will be a fantastic touristic and economic development opportunity for the Jilin province who will showcase its winter sports facilities, as well as a great opportunity for FISU to further strengthen its ties with China as everyone still remembers the last FISU World University Games held in the country in the summer of 2023.
FISU is convinced that, with the full involvement of Changchun and the Jilin province under the guidance of its leaders and with the involvement of the Chinese Student Sport Federation, the 33rd Winter Universiade in 2027 will be a unique, sustainable and inclusive event that will inspire participants, future generations, the local communities and the entire country.
