After two days of ceremonies, shootouts, dunks, whistles, cheers and plenty of emotions, it is already time for the finals day in Brasilia with teams from all five continents still competing for the trophies.

Time flies when you’re having fun! That is certainly what has been happening at the Brasilia 2025 FISU University World Cup 3×3 Basketball.

It seems it was only a few rebounds ago that the International University Sports Federation President Leonz Eder was declaring the competition open and it is already time for the thrilling last day, that will crown the two best universities, the shootout contest winners and of course the MVPs.

On Friday 14 November the event kicked off with the opening ceremony. Then teams parade and the official speeches preceded an impressive and dynamic show.

FISU President Leonz Eder had travelled to Brasilia for the event. “Let me thank the CBDU with President Alim Maluf Neto and the FISU 1st Vice-President Luciano Cabral, the Organising Committee, FIBA, the FISU Staff and all the volunteers who made it possible that you, dear student-athletes, can perform here in these days under excellent conditions at the Torre de TV de Brasilia, one of the city’s most emblematic and exciting landmarks.”

“This event is the last one of the successful FISU sports calendar of this year and will provide a dynamic and engaging close to the 2025 season. With 24 University teams from all the 5 continents, representing 19 Universities of 15 countries, it’s a great success. Dear players, I wish you good luck in your sports career as well as in your studies. You are our important FISU ambassadors for the development of University Sports worldwide.”

It is fantastic that there are still teams from all five continents competing for the world title. And a special congratulations to the University of Valencia, who still has both its teams running for the trophy!
