A delegation from FISU recently visited both construction sites as well as the proposed Boryeong second FISU Games Village.
The Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games Organising Committee carried out a comprehensive review of the FISU Games’ preparation status with a delegation from the International University Sports Federation’s Administration as well as the International Technical Committee (ITC), held over a two-day period.
During the visit, the delegation carried out on-site inspections of the construction sites for the new tennis venue (Chungnam International Tennis Centre) and the new gymnastics venue (Cheongju Multi-purpose Indoor Gymnasium) to review the construction progress, competition and functional area layout plans, and athlete circulation routes.

During the individual meetings about tennis, artistic gymnastics and rhythmic gymnastics held after the on-site inspections, in-depth discussions took place on improving competition facilities and refining operational plans based on issues identified during the inspections.
The delegation also visited the proposed site for Boryeong second FISU Games Village which is planned to accommodate beach volleyball student-athletes, to assess accessibility to competition venues, accommodation capacity, and facility conditions, and conducted a detailed review prior to final confirmation of the village.
Jing Zhao, FISU Summer Games Director, along with ITC Technical Committee Chairs Donatella Sacchi (artistic gymnastics), Josef Zellweger (rhythmic gymnastics), and Naohiro Kawatei (tennis), expressed satisfaction with the Organising Committee’s level of preparation. They stated that “based on the discussions held during this visit, we are confident that the Organising Committee will successfully prepare for the FISU Games.”
Lee Chang-seop, the Vice President of the Organising Committee, remarked, “We will actively incorporate the professional feedback received from the delegation to promptly implement improvements and further accelerate our preparations for a successful event.”

The Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games is scheduled to take place from 1 to 12 August 2027 across the four host regions of Daejeon, Sejong, Chungbuk, and Chungnam and will bring together approximately 15,000 participants from around 150 countries competing in 18 sports.
