Brasilia, Brazil has been announced as host of the 2025 FISU University World Cup 3×3 Basketball, which will take place in from 14-16 November. FISU appreciates the efforts and commitment of CBDU (Confederação Brasileira do Desporto Universitário) in stepping up to host this event, which will be the 12th time 3×3 basketball competition will be held in the University World Cup or World University Championship formats. It, along with wheelchair 3×3 basketball, also recently featured for the first time in the FISU World University Games programme, held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany.

This 9th FISU World Cup 3×3 Basketball will feature 12 women’s and 12 men’s teams representing their universities, bringing together some of the best student-athletes from around the world for a unique celebration of university sport and excellence.
South America and Brazil will welcome FISU 3×3 Basketball for the second time with this event, as the city of Salvador hosted the FISU Championship back in 2014. At that tournament, France won gold on the women’s side and host Brazil in the men’s tournament.

The 2024 FISU World Cup event in Xiamen, China had 22 universities and 18 nations represented in an excellent tournament that included podium finishes for universities from six different nations. Lithuania’s Vytautas Magnus University defeated Nantes University from France in the men’s final while on the women’s side, Tsinghua University, from the host nation China, knocked off Carleton University from Canada to win gold. Xiamen has hosted six FISU World Cups and one FISU Championship in 3×3 basketball.
The team selection process is currently being finalised based on the results of the FISU University World Cup 3×3 Basketball Qualifying Tournaments held across the five continents. The final list of qualified teams and subsequent team draw will be confirmed in the coming weeks, with teams commencing their drive for gold starting on 14 November.
