The Hungarian University Sports Federation (MEFS) honoured FISU’s former Secretary General and CEO with the Dr. Róbert Frenkl Award.
On 8 May 2025, within the ceremonial framework of the MEFS General Assembly held in Budapest, the Hungarian University Sports Federation (MEFS) honoured Eric Saintrond, former Secretary General and CEO of the International University Sports Federation, with the Dr. Róbert Frenkl Award. The Award was presented by MEFS President, Lajos Mocsai and by Orsolya Frenkl, Róbert Frenkl’s daughter.

In addition to his countless contributions to international university sports, Eric Saintrond significantly supported the development of the Hungarian university sports movement, especially during the preparation of the Summer Universiade bid of Budapest, as well as the bid and preparation of several World University Championships. His support played a key role in strengthening Hungary’s role within the international university sports movement. FISU’s former Secretary General and CEO also shared a very close friendship with former MEFS President, FISU Assessor and Medical Commission Chairman Dr. Róbert Frenkl.

The MEFS Executive Board decided to present Eric Saintrond the Dr. Róbert Frenkl Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the advancement and development of university sports, both in Hungary and internationally over the course of several decades.
