FISU Healthy Campus Programme passes 100 universities registered

19 August 2022

Launched in May 2020, the FISU World Programme for the Certification of Universities on Well-being (Healthy Campus) has passed the bar of 100 registered universities this week.

The University of Baghdad from Iraq was number 100, quickly followed by the Beijing Institute of Technology to make it 101.

The University of Baghdad was registered following the visit of representatives from the Iraqi University Sports Federation to the FISU headquarters in July, where they learned more about the Healthy Campus programme and other FISU activities.

“The excellent collaboration between FISU and the National University Sports Federations to promote the Healthy Campus programme in each country explains this success,” said Leonz Eder, FISU Acting President.

Currently, 31 additional universities are waiting for their top management’s green light to register.

“The Healthy Campus programme already has a positive impact on registered universities, such as better planning of internal activities towards achieving the 17 United Nations sustainable development goals, increased cohesion between units and departments and extensive learning from the promotion of good practices,” said Eric Saintrond, FISU Secretary General.

“By reaching all members of the campus communities, especially students, through the promotion of health, well-being and active lifestyles, the programme is an excellent complement to FISU’s mission,” he added.

The Healthy Campus programme’s 101 registered universities represent 32 countries on 5 continents and 47 of them have been certified at one of the five levels of the programme.
