TD 2021 VIRTUAL EDITION LOGO page 0001The University Sport Center (CUS) of Turin is hosting a special event called ‘Just The Woman I am’ to make the occasion of International Women’s Day this March.

The virtual event is being staged from 7 March onwards, in partnership with Università degli Studi di Torino and Politecnico di Torino. The event has been running for several years now, supporting gender equality, sport and the culture of well-being and inclusion.

Registrations for the 2021 edition are now open, and the objective is to run or walk and spread the color pink all over Italy.

In order to participate, each runner or walker will have to safely complete a 5 km distance, on any personal route anywhere in Italy or abroad, between 7am and 8pm on any day between 7 and 14 March.

“With this virtual edition we want to engage as many people as possible all around Italy,” said a spokesperson for CUS Torino. “Women, men, children, adults, all those who do sport regularly and those who do not, Italians and foreigners, all are invited. It will be a great and original sport experience but also a way to support university research.”

Donations start from € 20 and include an event t-shirt, a welcome bag, the race bib and shipment costs. Once a participant has signed up for the event, the home city or town will be added with a marker onto a map of Italy created on the official website: www.torinodonna.it.

After the walk or run each participant will be able to share their experience by posting a picture on social media with the hashtags #torinodonna2021 #justthewomaniam2021 #sceglidinonmancare.

Last but not least, during the evening of 8 March, a show named ‘Le Donne della Scienza – Woman of Science” will be organised by the University of Turin, the Politecnico of Turin and the University sport center of Turin, and will also be streamed.

On Saturday, 6 March, there will a “virtual square” with a full programme of webinars which will be free and open to everybody upon reservation.
