The International University Sports Federation began the year 2020 with a brand-new identity, logo and naming system. The new FISU personality is confident, inclusive, dynamic and joyful – all of it reflected in the new ‘U’ of the logo with a full-colour gradient.
The 2020 rebrand marks the beginning of a new era for FISU; one that celebrates our strong heritage and steers our future of university sport at every level, in every corner of the world.
Therefore, it is important that FISU’s member federations – the National University Sports Federations (NUSFs) – are also adopting the new logo system, ensuring that the message of university sport is a unified one, worldwide.
“Aligning FISU’s image with all stakeholders, and in particular with NUSFs is one of the pillars of the marketing objectives for the next 10 years,” says FISU Marketing Director Christian Monzani. “Aligning the image means appearing as a single entity, to guarantee consistet international visibility to all partners.”
“Aligning the logo and image is only the first step,” adds Monzani. “Other initiatives related to services, events and digital environments will give partners access to an international platform and the possibility to approach students from all over the world.”
“The unification of the image will allow FISU to be more active in providing these services in a coordinated way.”
The new proposed NUSF logo system takes into account that most member federations may already have their own, existing logo. The new system is, therefore, a combination of 4 main parts:
-
The NUSF’s existing emblem
-
A separating line
-
The FISU logotype
-
The country’s name and flag
If the NUSF doesn’t already have its own emblem, the proposal is to use the federation’s acronym as well as full name, along with the FISU logotype and the specific country’s name and flag.

FISU America President Alim Maluf Neto oversees a Continental Association that has a decade’s worth of experience Similarly, the Continental University Sports Federations (CUSFs) are also adopting the new system. The CUSF logo is a combination of three main parts:
1. FISU’s Dynamic U symbol
2. The FISU logotype
3. The continent’s name
FISU America is one CUSF that has already successfully adopted the new system.
“We at FISU America understand that we are part of a global system and we know the importance of being united in the university sports system,” says FISU America President Alim Maluf Neto. “We live in the information age and having a strong brand that represents all of us as a whole, is critical to our collective success.”
