20 November 2019

During last weekend’s 36th FISU General Assembly, FISU President Oleg Matytsin was picked to lead the international university sport movement until 2023, his second 4-year team.

This week, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin congratulated Oleg Matytsin on his re-election as FISU. The telegram was published on Monday at the Kremlin website.

“I congratulate you on your re-election as president of the International University Sports Federation. The unanimous support given to you by the participants of the FISU General Assembly is an unconditional evidence of your fruitful work in this important post, high appreciation of your professional qualities, and significant personal contribution to the development of university sports in the world,” Mr. Putin wrote in the telegram.

The Russian President expressed confidence in Matytsin to continue implementing his plans, “aimed at promoting the values of Olympism, a healthy and active lifestyle among young people.”
