With the countdown underway to the international University Sports Movement’s premiere summer event, the university sports professors of all Switzerland’s university sports organisations met for the Swiss University Sports board met for the annual forum.
This year’s event took place under the leadership of the Lausanne Unisport Director Pierre Pfefferlé on the University of Lausanne campus.
The event got underway with the welcoming address from Benoît Frund, Vice-Rector of the University of Lausanne. Just days earlier, Mr. Frund greeted the Relay of the University Flame to these campus grounds.

With Switzerland soon hosting both the Youth Olympic Games 2020 in Lausanne and then Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade one year later in heart of the Swiss Alps, Olivier Mutter presented the Youth Olympic Games’ event concept.
Short presentations from Directors’ Conference led by Pierre Pfefferlé) proceeded the Technical Commission works, presented by Raphaël Germann. FISU First-Vice President Leonz Eder spoke on the works and developments of the Swiss University Sports and Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade 2019.
School was also in session for the sports leaders during day two and three of the annual forum
Marilen Matter Graf discussed next year’s World University Championships season while Rento Maggi presented on the upcoming European Universities Championships and the Summer Universiade 2019, with the latter getting underway in Napoli on 3 July with 5,971 officially athlete entries. Daniel Studer followed with a presentation on the lighthouse projects of all university sports organizations.
The second day of the three-day forum focused on advanced training topics as well as team building activities. A day highlight came with a campus rally, which not only introduced the participants to the locations of the University of Lausanne and EPF Lausanne, but also integrated the headquarters of the FISU headquarters that reside within the campus’s new landmark building, the Synathlon.

The forum’s final day kicked off with a conference on doping, followed by five workshops on topics such as European Universities Games, e-sports, functions in international sports bodies, cleaning companies for sports facilities and integration of university sports organizations for the Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade 2021.
In 2020, the The Swiss University Sports Forum will be organized by Patrick Udvardi and held in Lucerne.
