14 June 2019

Climbing facility at Centro ArrampicataTURIN – The FISU Healthy Campus project continues to gain momentum as pilot universities get set to implement the plan. The latest in a series of visits for FISU was the University of Turin in Italy, which already has a strong sports and sustainability culture in place. This is one of the reasons it was chosen among the seven universities that will pilot this vast project.

“I am very pleased about our participation in the Healthy Campus Pilot Project,” said Gian Maria Ajani, Rector of the university. “This project is an opportunity to improve internally and also to create a relationship with other institutions around the world.”

During this visit, FISU Executive Committee member Fernando Parente also met Sandro Petruzzi who leads sustainability projects for the university, as well as Riccardo D’Elicio, President of the CUS (University Sports Center) Turin.

Riccardo D’Elicio said, “The work being carried out in the area of sport and physical activity by CUS Turin, is done with a global concept, and is being developed to promote a healthy lifestyle among the University community.”

The FISU Healthy Campus project is an initiative that aims to enhance students’ well-being in all aspects. FISU’s objective with this project is to provide universities worldwide with systematic guidelines and tool kits to ensure the well-being and healthy lifestyle of their students.

The next and final round of meetings will be held with the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) in Moscow, and La Matanza in Argentina. The project is set for a massive roll-out in January 2020.
