3×3 to military training in Estonia on IDUS

Wide variety of activities on International Day of University Sport  

ESTONIA – The 2018 edition of the International Day of. University sport was celebrated in Estonia will enthusiasm, with nine universities creating special programmes to celebrate this day. A total of 1100 students all over Estonia participated in the IDUS 2018 celebrations.

 

The Estonian University of Life Sciences had a great program, which included free access to the gym and group trainings throughout the whole day. In addition, they also held a street basketball 3×3 tournament and a mini football tournament, bringing about 200 students together for sport.

 

Tartu University also offered their gym and track and field hall to students for the whole day and organised group trainings too. The most popular activity was NTC training, which saw over 40 participants at one time. Another kind of training was witnessed at the Estonian National Defence College, which made a military themed obstacle course for students to test their skills.

Another institute that offered a host of activities was the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences. They day’s programme brought together around 300 students for aerobics, orienteering and cross country competitions, along with many other mini-competitions. They also had a Thai boxing and judo demo, with the opportunity to train.

 

Many other centres provided various opportunities for people to try sport. This included the Tallinn University of Technology, the Tallinn University of Applied Sciences, the Estonian Business School which organised a nice bike ride alongside the coast of Paljassaare beach and the Tartu Health Care College which held a sports event named ‘Physiotherapy – Teamwork’ in which 14 teams of 12 people competed against each other in medically themed events, testing their skills and smarts.
