The 14th FISU Forum is coming to the upcoming host of the Winter Universiade as Krasnoyarsk, Russia hosts a premiere FISU education event from the 6-10 August 2018. With more than 60 FISU Member Associations already registered and an all-star line up of speakers and topics, the Forum is an ideal lead-in to the Winter Universiade and fitting with FISU’s motto of using sports and education to enhance the trajectory of today’s stars to become tomorrow’s leaders.

 

 

The opening and closing ceremonies of the FISU Forum will be held in the Congress hall of the Siberian Federal University, one of the venues of the future Winter Universiade Village. Delegations will be accommodated in the residences of the Siberian Federal University located in the venue where most of the FISU Forum activities will take place.

 

An introduction to curling is planned as part of the FISU Forum programme and participants will have an opportunity to try curling in the same venue where both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Winter Universiade 2019 will take place.

 

 

The Forum participants will be discussing innovative leadership in university sport around three sub-themes: Equal Opportunities, Dual Career and Good Governance. Attendees will have a chance to listen to world class speakers, a group that includes Prof. Richard Hsiao of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Brian Minikin from the University of Stirling.

 

More than 220 volunteers will be part of the FISU Forum. The recruitment of those volunteers will begin mid-June and will end in July. To be eligible, candidates must be registered on the official website hand have been interviewed for the Winter Universiade 2019.The FISU Forum volunteers will be provided with meals during the shift, a set of equipment and souvenirs. Nonresident volunteers will also be provided with accommodation during the FISU Forum.

 

Director General of the ANO “Directorate Krasnoyarsk 2019” Maxim Urazov stressed that every effort will be made to organize the FISU Forum at the highest level.

 

 

“During the FISU Forum Krasnoyarsk will become the main platform for exchange of experience among experts for the development of mass student sports, as well as for the formation of new alliances and partnerships,” Mr. Urazov said. “Let me stress that FISU Forum will be assessment key stage for Krasnoyarsk in our preparedness for the Winter Universiade. International experts will appreciate how all the facilities and services of the city are ready for such a major and large-scale event as Krasnoyarsk will host in 2019.”

Most foreign nationals are required to have entry visas to travel to the Russian Federation. To obtain visa delegations need to submit their Individual Entry form visa online accreditation system. After receiving the individual entry form, the Forum OC will issue an official Letter of Invitation allowing the participants to apply for a visa (the letter of invitation itself does not grant the right to enter the Russian territory.

The Letter of Invitation provided by the Organising Committee is not valid for travelling and entering the Russian Federation and will by no means considered by border control authorities.
