HANGZHOU, CHINAOn the evening of September 16th, the 13th National Students Games of China successfully concluded in the beautiful lakeside city Hangzhou. 5,966 athletes from all 34 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions competed in 10 sports for 987 medals.

Mr. TIAN Xuejun, Vice-Minister of Ministry of Education, and the executive director of the event, announced the conclusion of the Games. During the Games, 35 Students Games records were set by 30 student athletes in 49 matches, which was very encouraging for all the participants.

The Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) flag flies high during the Games. FUSC also just helped organise the 3×3 FISU World University League -2017 Finals.

The Games was held according to “Solidarity, Progressing, Civilization and Education”, and was themed as “advancing with great determination, motivating with unyielding efforts”. It was the first time the school games and university games were combined at the same time and place. During the games, a variety of events were held, such as the National Schools & Universities Sport Symposium, Schools & Universities Sports Scientific Report Meeting, Symposium on National Schools & Universities’ Sport Venues Open to Republic and National Youth Campus Football Photos Exhibition. These various events enriched the Games. As one of the key elements, a series of activities to celebrate the “International Day of University Sports” were organized on different occasions.

Performances during both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies were of the highest standard

This day of sports comes from the international governing body of university sports (FISU). FISU’s mission is to inspire the University Sport Movement on a global scale, to promote the health and wellbeing through sports and physical activities of all levels. This philosophy and mission was fully passed to the schools and universities; and from there, to the students.
