FISU Statement regarding the McLaren Report

9 December 2016

FISU is grateful to Professor McLaren and his team for their commitment to bringing to light doping violations in Russia.

Despite having repeatedly requested information since the publication of part one of Professor McLaren’s report, FISU has only now received the second part of the report, and has only now had the opportunity to view the related evidence. FISU is deeply concerned to note references to athletes who competed at the 2013 Universiade and by Professor Mclaren’s conclusion that sample swapping was trialed at Kazan 2013.

The information presented by Professor McLaren deserves the most careful of consideration. FISU will continue working with international sports federations and anti-doping stakeholders, including WADA, to analyse Professor McLaren’s findings and determine an appropriate course of action.
