Celebrating International Student’s Day

17 November 2016

LAUSANNE – At the occasion of the International Student’s Day, the FISU President Oleg Matytsin wanted to share this message:

“Dear friends!

On November 17 the world celebrates the International student’s day. This is a remarkable occasion for us to remember that in all times studenthood has been a synonym for freedom and progress, that universities and their students have been a core value and the main pillar of a safe, strong and prosperous society.

78 years ago on this day the world saw an unprecedented attack on the very idea of being a free and independently thinking student. We should never forget that todays’ students are the leaders of the future, and the values they bear will determine the world we will live in tomorrow. We should stand against any forms of oppression, discrimination, intolerance, and sport is the best tool to make sure that there is no place for them in the society.

Students have always been at the heart of thinking and decision-making for FISU. Let’s make every possible effort to promote the values of sport among world students and universities, let’s do our best to act for their health and well-being!”

Yours sincerely, Oleg Matytsin, FISU President
