Sergey Seyranov elected President of the Russian Students Sport Union

 MOSCOW – On 28 October, 2016 the Electoral Conference of the Russian Students Sport Union (RSSU) took place in Moscow, Russia. The delegates from regional divisions of RSSU gathered in the conference hall of the Russian Olympic Committee to elect the new President and the Executive Committee to lead the organisation for the following 4 years.

The meeting was also attended by honorary guests including the Secretary of the Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport Aleksey Kulakovsky, Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Marina Tomilova, Director General of the Russian Olympic Committee Vladimir Sengleev, First Deputy Head of the Russian State Duma Committee for International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova, as well as representatives of national sports federations.

The Conference was opened by Oleg Matytsin, RSSU President in 2005-2015, who presented a comprehensive report on 2012-2016 RSSU activities.

Election of a new RSSU President followed, with Sergey Seyranov, Rector of the Moscow State Academy of Physical Culture, being unanimously chosen to lead the organization. Professor Seyranov, who holds a doctorate degree in pedagogical sciences, has been the Head of the Russian delegation at Universiades for the previous 10 years.

Meanwhile, Mr Matytsin was elected as RSSU Honorary President.
