FISU President speaks at the Forum of the Heads of the National Olympic Committees of CIS countries, Baltic States and Georgia

SOCHI – On 6 October, the Regional Forum of the heads of the national Olympic committees of CIS countries, Baltic States and Georgia took place at the Russian International Olympic University in Sochi, Russia.

The respectable gathering of NOC presidents of former Soviet republics was dedicated to the promotion of sports and Olympic values in modern society. The honorary guest of the Forum, FISU President Oleg Matytsin, made a presentation in which he outlined the main areas of cooperation between FISU, National Olympic Committees and National University Sports Federations.

According to the FISU President, NOCs could play an important role in attracting public attention and support to major FISU and NUSF activities, like the celebration of the ‘International Day of University Sports’.

Mr Matytsin’s presentation at the Forum was followed by an open lecture to RIOU students, who showed much interest in the Universiades and other FISU projects, including volunteers training.

It remains to be said that FISU has partnered with the Russian International Olympic University and provides scholarships for its ‘Master of Sports Administration’ programme.
