BRATISLAVA – Currently, the 4th edition of the Slovak Summer Universiade (4-8.09.2016) is underway. The event is staged under patronage of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport under the leadership of Peter Plavcan together with the Slovak Association of University Sports led by Julius Dubovsky.
Monday, 5 September, 2016 the Opening ceremony was held in presence of the President of Slovak Republic Andrej Kiska, who encouraged the Organizer of the Slovak Universiade, the Technical University of Slovakia, and wished the participants a successful national student sport event.

Rector of Slovak Technical University Robert Redhammer pointed out the importance of a common approach to develop university sport in Slovakia and invited all people to organize similar events in the future.
FISU delegate Milan Augustin (Director of WU) has thanked SAUS, high authorities of the state and rectorate of STU on behalf of FISU President Oleg Matytsin and congratulated the organizers for their outstanding work.
The Slovak Summer Universiade programme consists of 11 sports: athletics, aerobics, basketball, 3×3 basketball, beach volleyball, football, swimming, chess, tennis and volleyball
After the official opening ceremony the professors and other members of academic life moved to the STU rectorate building where an Academic Conference was held. The theme of the conference was ‘Sport Education and Recreational Sport at the Universities’ and “Top Sport at the Universities – Student-Athlete-University Teams’.

Seventeen reports have been submitted to the audience among which also FISU had one about the organization of sport events within FISU. Outcome of the conference from all representatives was a very high level discussion which focused on general problems of student sport and educational activities cohesion.
The General Director of the Department of State Care for Sport and Youth Monika Marsalekova also attended the discussions.
