BRATISLAVA – The members of the FISU Medical Committee (CMI) gathered from 12 to 15 May, 2016 in Bratislava (SVK) where they had a very fruitful meeting. The opening of the event was marked by the speech of Prof. Dusan Hamar, Chair of the Committee, in which he welcomed the FISU Medical Committee members and thanked to the official representatives from the Sport Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, Comenius University and the Slovak University Sports Association (SAUS) for their support and attendance.
The agenda covered numerous topics such as the general review of the medical care & doping control tasks of the CMI during FISU events (Universiades and WUCs) as well as the presentation of final reports (2015 Winter and Summer Universiades) and progress reports (2016 WUCs, 2017/2019 Winter and Summer Universiades). An update on the preparation of the third edition of the ‘Check-up your heart’ programme for the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei was given to the Committee members.
As for anti-doping aspects, they included the overview of the doping control procedure at FISU events together with the FISU relations with ISFs, WADA, NADO and laboratories. The application of the TDDST and quality of anti-doping services in WUCs and Universiades revealed to be an important topic of discussion. Moreover, a point of the Education report focussed on the future progress of the anti-doping e-textbook, project that had been developed by FISU, the 2015 SU Gwangju OC and WADA. The meeting finished with the review of specific points related to the FISU medical care regulations.
