WROCLAW – On 8 April, the first session of the EUSA elective General Assembly 2016 was opened by Adam Roczek, President of EUSA, who welcomed the participants in the Centennial Hall of Wrocław (POL).
Then Oleg Matytsin, President of FISU, took the floor to express his appreciation of the cooperation with EUSA and to present the long-term strategy that FISU is currently developing. Its goal is to create a world where university sport has positively shaped leaders of society. Working groups are being put in place to define the objectives of a 10-year roadmap and NUSFs will play an important role in this process.

President Matytsin also presented the issues discussed during the last FISU Executive Committee meeting: the new age limit of 25, partnerships with the business sector, the preparation of the Universiades 2017, 2019 and 2021. He also wished to thank NUSFs for their support and concluded his speech by saying “Let’s build our future together”.
FISU was also represented by Eric Saintrond, Secretary-General/CEO, Leonz Eder, 1st Vice-President, Marian Dymalski, Vice-President, Verena Burk, 1st Assessor, Hilkka Laitinen, Assessor, Fernando Parente, Assessor, Laurent Briel, Development and NUSF relations Director, and Westley Rolin, Development Assistant.
The Secretary General of FASU, Penninah Aligawesa Kabenge, and Shen Zhen, Vice-Chair of the CDSU and Director of the AUSF Secretariat, were invited to take the floor to congratulate the Assembly members and wish them well.

The Head of the Sport Unit of the European Commission, Yves Le Lostecque, took the floor to underline the importance of EUSA as a partner for his organisation. EUSA participate in the EU Week of Sport, the EU Expert Group on Human Ressources Development in Sport, and the European Voluntary Service.
Leonz Eder, as EUSA Vice-President, chaired the Assembly. A total of 38 countries were present. The agenda mainly focused on the reports from the President, the Secretary General, the Treasurer and the Auditors. Then, the candidates willing to be part of the next EUSA Executive Committee were given the opportunity to briefly present themselves and what they stand for.
