KAMPALA – As part of its improvements in service delivery, the Federation of Africa University Sports this month launched an online platform for registration for the 8th FASU Games 2016. The games will be hosted by University Sports South Africa at the University of Johannesburg and the Tshwane University of Technology from 26 June to 2 July, 2016.
According to a letter signed by the FASU President and Secretary General, which was circulated to all members, participation in the competition is open to all individual universities/colleges from Africa, under the coordination of the National University Sports Federations, and to all registered students of that particular institution aged 17 – 28 years. The games programme includes Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Football, Volleyball, Netball, Table Tennis and Tennis.
“It is the 1st time we are running an online platform, and the 1st time participation is by individual universities. All these are results of a study we conducted in 2014 to try and improve university sports activities on the continent. No paper registration will be done”, FASU Secretary General Peninnah Kabenge Aligawesa explained.
To use the online platform each institution/university/college shall set up an account by filling a form on the games portal here, which shall be used to enter all the necessary requirements for participation at the games.
