LAUSANNE – Together with the African University Sports Federation (FASU), we wish to express our sadness further to the sudden passing away of Dele Akpata.
A representative of Botswana, Dele Akpata was part of the International Control Commission (CIC) within FISU since 2011, he was also a member of the Sports Regulations Commission between 2007 and 2011.
A well-known Basketball coach and referee, Dele Akpate officiated in this sport for 23 years. With this experience, he has set up many clinics in different African countries whether for FIBA or under the Olympic Solidarity programme.
He was also the Secretary General of the Confederation of University and College Sport – Zone 6 (2006-2015) and President of the Botswana NUSF (2003-2011).
All those who met him will keep the memory of a man with extreme kindness.
