University of Nigeria Nsukka to host 14th West African University Games

NIGERIA – University of Nigeria Nsukka in collaboration with the Nigeria University Games Association will be hosting the 14th West African University Games, At least 50 universities from 14 countries are expected to converge on Nsukka, Enugu State this October.

The events in Nsukka according to the University Sports Director Mr G. N Ogbobe will feature only two sports, Football (men) and Hockey (men and Women).  

Some of the countries expected to participate who have previously served as hosts include; Ghana, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Benin Republic.

According to the Vice-Chancellor of the University Of Nigeria (UNN), Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, ‘the Games had succeeded in breaking barriers in the sub-region, adding that the passion and emotion that sports elicit, serves as an effective advantage on the orientation of the youth’. He said that the university was good to go in terms of the state of the facilities.
