FISU President Gallien
“3×3 is not only a sport, but also education, culture and entertainment.” FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien delivered his speech, “These players are today’s champions, tomorrow’s leaders. Their spirit and energy will be well showed during the competition. A better world will be built up by all of them.”
Mr.Tan Tianxing, the Deputy Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of The State Council, announced the official opening of the event.
As one of the wonderful moments of the ceremony, a variety of Chinese cultural performances were provided by the local students, whose passion and enthusiasm lighted up the whole court.
“The performances are very nice. To me, it is a good way of learning local culture. I am happy to be here.” Said Samantha Simmons, players of Monash University, Australia.
The Organising Committee also set up a cultural zone near the court, to provide the players, officials and the spectators an opportunity of cultural communication.
18 matches of the Preliminary Round were played during the opening day. The qualifications of the Men’s Dunk Contest and the Women’s Shoot Out Contest will take place in the second day, as well as the rest preliminary matched.
